Splitting our Native Bee Hives

At our November 2023 Working Bee, Gary Phillips successfully split two of our active native bee hives to create four beehives, using disused hive boxes that he had carefully repaired. This was a chance to see the amazing spiral brood mass inside the hive of the Native Stingless Bee (Tetragonula carbonaria). The bees seem very happy and are busy cross pollinating native plants throughout Pearl Beach and the National Park. You can read more about Native Stingless Bees HERE.
